A weld nut is used by welders to fasten parts together. It is specifically designed to be welded to another workpiece. There are many types of weld nuts like round base nuts, slab base nuts, and tab base nuts.
Weld nuts are intended for spot welding on flat workpieces. To help you find it in a pilot hole, they include a locating boss around the threads. These nuts have a locating boss and welding projections but are otherwise quite similar to regular square or hex nuts. These are used in tubes, channels, or other constrained spaces.
